Language CourseThe language course is meant for people who want to learn the Spanish language.
Depending on the applications, the course will be planned for a certain period of time. At the moment we still have spaces. The group course will last for one month. Classes will be given on 5 mornings per week. People who are not interested in working as a volunteer or intern, but would like to take part in the language and culture course, are just as welcome to apply for this course. Staying with a host familyDuring your stay in Bolivia we find a host family for you to live with. This is the best way to learn more about the Bolivian culture and to learn more of the Spanish language. The host families are selected and prepared by Bureau Connectie Bolivia.
Before your departure, we will discuss your wishes concerning a host family. Whether you would like to live in a family with children or animals or if you are a vegetarian, etc. We will take care of these aspects, while looking for the right host family for you. It goes without saying that it is not always possible to meet your wishes, but we will do the best we can to find you a family where you will feel welcome and at home. All of the host families live in La Paz or el alto. We will try to find a family, who live nearby the project where you will be working. All the host families have warm water and electricity in their homes! The price that you will pay monthly is 100 Euros all of which goes to the families. This is not expensive.
Bureau Connectie Bolivia does not make agreements with the families concerning meals. On the one hand it is nice to eat with your family, but on the other, not every volunteer/intern feels the need to eat at home all the time. Agreements can be made with the family. A few of the host families charge a fee for meals, around 40 to 50 Euros per month.
Once you have arrived at your host family an interview will be held with the family, the volunteer and Bureau Connectie Bolivia. In this meeting the conditions and agreements will be made. You have the right to your own privacy, a key of your own and you are not obliged to join family occasions. However it is of course expected that you will take care of the fact that you are living with others and that there are certain rules within the family.
It is possible that you will not feel at home in your host family. It just does not click, or housemates seem to be having problems with each other, which can make you feel very uncomfortable. The best thing to do is to discuss this as soon as possible with the staff of Bureau Connectie Bolivia. We will find you another host family as soon as possible.
You are not obliged to stay with a host family. It is also possible to live alone or with friends or share an apartement with other volunteers.
