Volunteerwork and internships in Bolivia

For a lot of people, old or young, it is a dream to be working abroad, as a volunteer or intern, for a period of time. A plan will increase in value, when it is possible to combine it with traveling and taking a language course.

There are two ways to achieve this dream:
- Find an organization abroad and try to arrange something yourself;
- Go abroad through a volunteer agency.

Both ways have advantages and disadvantages. The disadvantage of finding out yourself, is that a lot of questions remain unanswered and a high factor of insecurity stays in your mind. The advantage is that you are free to organize your own time and plans.
The disadvantage of volunteer agencies is that they often ask a high price for their mediation and it is often not very clear what exactly you are paying for. Options that these volunteer agencies offer, are often limited; most of the time they offer ‘standard packages’ for a certain amount of time and price.

These volunteer agencies are often not suitable for interns, as they cannot offer the right internship, which meets the standards of your education. Furthermore it is often a problem to find the right supervision and to get supervision in another language.
Bureau Connectie Bolivia is looking for something in between. You do not have to find out and organize everything yourself, your arrival and stay will be fully prepared and at the same time your wishes and ideas will be taken care of. This way you can decide a lot for yourself: how long you will stay, the kind of work that you are willing to do and in a certain sense the price that you are willing to pay for it. Since your wishes and the demands of your education are taken care of, while mediating, we can offer not only places for volunteers, but also internships.

Bureau Connectie Bolivia is situated in La Paz, Bolivia. The costs are therefor much lower than with most volunteer agencies.

You can apply to us at any time of the year. We have placed around 260 volunteers and interns since September 2004. Host families, internships and volunteer placements, introduction course and language course are being offered in La Paz.

Since September 2005 we have been working with JoHo Nederland. We chose this organization, because we have received positive comments about them from our Dutch volunteers and interns. JoHo is an (inter)national organization which is trying to open as many centers as possible, concerning work, travel and international development cooperation. Transferring knowledge, improving international contacts and giving information is most important (quote website JoHo). JoHo has 4 centers in The Netherlands and several others worldwide, where you can go for information concerning traveling and working abroad. They are also our mediator in The Netherlands as Bureau Connectie Bolivia does not have an office there.
